Part I: Basic Sewing Tools
Edit Sewing
Purpose: Allow users to edit sewing lines.
Operation Path:
Home ➡️ Edit Sewing
Operation Instructions:
After entering this function, drag to change the start and end points of sewing lines.
- Adjust the sewing‑line type, fold angle and sewing‑line elasticity in the Property Editor.
- Sewing‑line types include Custom‑Angle and Turned. Use Custom‑Angle for pattern pieces with no overlapping relationship. Use Turned for pattern pieces with upper‑lower stacking to achieve better results.
- Select a sewing line, then press the Del key or use the right‑click menu to delete it.
Segment Sewing
Purpose:
Enable users to sew two segments together.
Operation Path:
Home ➡️ Segment Sewing
Operation Instructions:
- After activating the tool, click the two target segments in sequence to generate a sewing line between them.
- The sewing‑line direction is determined by where you click on the segment. The vertex closer to the click position serves as the start point.
- Sewing proceeds from the start vertex to the end vertex on both sides.
- Hold the Shift key to select multiple segments instead of a single segment for MN‑style sewing.
M:N Segment Sewing
Purpose:
Allow users to sew two sets of discontinuous lines together.
Operation Path:
Home ➡️ M:N Segment Sewing
Operation Instructions:
Home ➡️ Segment Sewing drop‑down menu ➡️ M:N Segment Sewing
- After activating the tool, click each line of the first group in sequence. These lines will be connected end‑to‑end during sewing, then press Enter. Next, click each line of the second group in sequence and press Enter to create M:N segment sewing.
- Segments are sewn proportionally by length from the multi‑segment start point to the multi‑segment end point.
Free sewing
Purpose:
Allow users to sew two edges with freely‑defined start and end points.
Operation Path:
Home ➡️ Free Sewing
Operation Instructions:
- After activating the tool, click the start and end points of the two edges to be sewn in sequence to generate free‑sewing lines.
- Sewing runs from the start point to the end point on both edges.
- Hold down Shift for multi‑selection, then release to create one‑to‑many or many‑to‑many sewing relationships.
M:N Free Sewing
Purpose:
Allow users to sew two sets of discontinuous lines with freely‑defined start and end points.
Operation Path:
Home➡️ Free Sewing drop-down menu➡️ M:N Free Sewing
Operating Instructions:
Activate the tool, select lines of Group 1 in order (lines connect end‑to‑end), press Enter. Then select lines of Group 2 in order and press Enter to create M:N segment sewing.
Part II: Sewing‑Line Properties
I. Sewing‑Line Type
Purpose:
To determine whether the pattern pieces on both sides of the sewing line have an upper‑lower stacking relationship, so as to invoke different simulation modes.
Operation Path:
Home ➡️ Edit Sewing ➡️ Click sewing line ➡️ Property Editor ➡️ Sewing‑Line Type
Flat Seam
Purpose:
Suitable for sewing where seam edges of two pattern pieces are joined together.
Flat Seam (One‑Side)
Purpose:
Simulate real‑world fell‑seam technique by setting height offset on both sides of the seam. The fell‑seam direction can be selected in the Property Editor.
Physical Garment Both Side One Side
Flat Seam (Both Side)
Purpose:
Both sides of the seam keep the same height. The seam stitching effect is displayed through normals.
Turned
Purpose:
Designed for sewing to internal lines and internal shapes.
Sewing lines will default to Turned and cannot be modified under the following conditions:
- Sewing lines sharing vertices on the seam edge of the same pattern piece.
- Sewing applied to internal lines or internal shapes.
II. Elasticity
Purpose:
Parameters and practical meaning are identical to the elasticity settings on seam edges.
Operation Path:
Home ➡️ Edit Sewing ➡️ Click the sewing line ➡️ Property Editor ➡️ Elasticity
III. 3D Seam Stitching Effect
Purpose:
Add indented visual effect to seam‑edges on both sides of the stitching via normal map.
Operation Path:
Home ➡️ Edit Sewing ➡️ Click the sewing line ➡️ Property Editor ➡️ 3D Seam Stitching Effect
Operation Instructions:
- Turn off the normal map for one side to create layered height difference (one‑side high, one‑side low).
- The default value is 1. Higher values produce darker seam shadows. Set the value to 0 to remove seam shadow effect.
