Purpose:
Prevent unrealistic “full transparency” from occurring when viewing fabric from the side in the 3D viewport. This feature ensures that the material appears closer to the real optical behavior of fabric at oblique viewing angles, enhancing visual realism in rendering by more accurately simulating fabric thickness and optical characteristics.
