Style3D Auto Modeling Guidelines
— Based on the 2D-Center Auto Arrangement & Auto Sewing Framework
1. What is Auto Modeling?
Auto Modeling is not simply converting 2D patterns into a 3D garment.
It is fundamentally powered by two AI capabilities:
- Auto Arrangement – Predicts where each pattern piece should be placed on the avatar.
- Front Panel → Front Chest
- Back Panel → Back Body
- Sleeve → Arm
- Collar → Neck
- Auto Sewing – Predicts which pattern edges should be sewn together.
- Front Armhole ↔ Sleeve Cap
- Back Armhole ↔ Sleeve Cap
- Front Shoulder ↔ Back Shoulder
2. Requirements Before Auto Arrangement
The current AI model introduces a 2D-Center (Human Reference Coordinate System).
Instead of recognizing only the shape of each pattern piece, the model also analyzes its position within the 2D workspace. Based on this layout, the AI determines which side of the body each pattern belongs to.
Pattern Layout Requirements
Before running Auto Modeling, manually organize the pattern pieces as closely as possible to the following layout.: The closer the layout is to this standard, the higher the success rate.
Horizontal Order (Left → Right)
- Back Body Pieces
- Right Body Pieces
- Front Body Pieces
- Left Body Pieces
Relative Position Within Each Group
Maintain the natural relative relationship between pattern pieces.
Examples:
- Collar above the front panel
- Cuff below the sleeve
- Ruffle below the front/back panel
Neckline Alignment
The neckline of the front body panel should align with the avatar's neck position in the 2D workspace.

3. Requirements Before Auto Sewing
Auto Sewing is also built on the 2D-Center framework.
The AI predicts:

- Which edges should be sewn together

3.2 What Kind of Data Does Auto Sewing Prefer?(Ordered from highest to lowest success rate)
3.2.1Highest Success Rate: One garment component corresponds to one pattern piece.
3.2.2 Moderate Success Rate:A garment component is divided into a small number of regular pieces.

Requirements:
- Left/right symmetry
- Regular construction
- Smooth segmentation
3.2.3 Difficult Cases
- Excessive Segmentation,Example:
- Front panel split into four pieces
- Back panel split into four pieces
The model must first determine which pieces belong to the same garment component.
- Complex Curved Segmentation,Sleeve divided by complex curved seams, irregular cuts on front and back panels
- Component Fusion,Examples:
- Front panel connected directly to hood
- Front panel connected directly to sleeve
- Raglan sleeves
3.2.4 Unsupported Structures
- Inner Dart
- Internal pattern lines
3.2.5 Indirect Impact of Sewing Errors
The model predicts the garment globally, rather than sewing each component independently.
Therefore:
- If the collar is sewn incorrectly, the front panel may become distorted.
- If the hood is sewn incorrectly, it can negatively affect the shoulder and neckline sewing prediction.
Recommendation: Remove these complex structures before running Auto Modeling whenever possible.
