c.2 Zipper

Ⅰ. Create Basic Zippers

After entering Trim ▶ Zipper, click sequentially in the 2D or 3D viewport to set the start and end points of the zipper chain, then the zipper will be created.
The created zipper adopts the style checked in the Scene Manager window.
Operation Demo:
Adjust Zipper Slider Position
In non‑simulation mode, use the Select / Move tool to translate or rotate the zipper slider. You may also drag the zipper directly in the 3D viewport to adjust the slider position along the zipper. Click Simulate to view the zipper closed or opened.
Tip: Operate in non‑simulation mode. The zipper slider cannot be moved while simulation is running.

Ⅱ. Double‑slider Zipper

Select the zipper ▶ Property Editor window ▶ Edit Zipper Style ▶ check the 【Double‑slider Zipper】 option. Two types are available under zipper teeth selection: X‑type and O‑type:

X‑Type Double‑slider Open‑end Zipper

Commonly used for garment model creation. The X‑Type double‑slider open‑end zipper can be unzipped from both top and bottom directions.
Operation Demo:

O‑Type Double‑slider Closed‑end Zipper

Suitable for bag‑type model creation. The O‑Type double‑slider closed‑end zipper can be unzipped from the center toward both sides.

Ⅲ. Add Topstitch to Zipper Tape

You can add topstitch to the zipper tape for more realistic zipper appearance.
Operation Path:
  • Add Topstitch: Trim ▶ Segment Topstitch / Free Topstitch
  • Edit Topstitch: Trim ▶ Edit Topstitch

Ⅴ. Edit Zipper Tape (V9.0+)

Starting from V9.0, you can convert zipper tape into pattern‑piece format, so that the outline of zipper tape becomes editable.
⚠️ Editing Restrictions: The zipper tape can only be adjusted in the width direction; adjustment in the length direction is not supported.
Operation Method:
  • Trim ▶ Zipper ▶ Property Editor window ▶ Editable Tape (Beta)
  • Edit the width‑direction outline of the tape under Edit Pattern Piece / Curve / Arc mode.

Ⅵ. Zipper Grading
Zippers support manual and automatic grading, enabling grading adjustment for zipper‑tape length.
Operation Path:
  • Trim ▶ Zipper ▶ Select zipper ▶ Property Editor window ▶ Tape Length Grading
Operation Demo:
Tip: The grading function also supports pattern pieces, patterns, buttons, buttonholes and other elements.

VII. Zipper Collision

In Style3D, the "Collision (Beta)" feature under zipper properties enables zippers to generate physical collision and gravity effects with fabrics during 3D simulation for higher realism.
Key Functions:
  • Participate in physical simulation: When enabled, the zipper gains thickness and weight, collides with surrounding fabrics and prevents inter‑penetration.
  • Improve realism: The zipper hangs naturally under gravity. Sliders and pulls swing with movements to behave like real‑world hardware.
Use Cases:
  • For high‑fidelity presentation of zipper‑garment interaction (e.g. jackets, backpacks, functional garments);
  • For production‑grade rendering or animation requiring lifelike details.
Operation Path: Trim ▶ Zipper ▶ Select zipper ▶ Property Editor window ▶ Turn on the Collision (Beta) toggle switch
