OBJ Import/Export

发布于:2024-09-04

Purpose:

OBJ files are versatile 3D model files that can be imported and exported in Style3D, serving as avatars, trims, or patterns.

Operation Path:

File ▶ Import/Export▶ Import/Export OBJ

Operation Instructions:

Import OBJ

Load Type

Open: Open the file and overwrite the original project.

Add:Add the file without overwriting the original project.

Object Type

Load as Avatar

Inherit Arrange Info:When the load type is set to "Open," enabling this option will inherit the previous model arrangement point information.

Inherit Measure Line:When the load type is set to "Open," enabling this option will inherit the measurement lines from the original model if the new model shares the same topological information.

Inherit Avatar Asset: Inherit materials related to the avatar, including measurement lines and arrangement points.

Switch to Current Skin: Imported OBJ can use the current model's texture in the scene. This means the material of the imported OBJ will match the model's material in the scene.

Load as Trim

Default Position: After opening, the model is relocated to the origin instead of retaining its original position in the 3D software where it was created.

Load as Garment

Trace as 2D Pattern from UV Map: When enabled, this option allows the generation of 2D patterns based on the UV map after opening.

Load as Prop

Add OBJ File as a Prop

Scale

scale

mm/cm/m/ft/inch (adjustable size percentage)

Auto Scale

scale to fit:When checked, automatically detects the unit.

Axis Conversion

Change the Axial Direction of the OBJ file.

translation

Translation Unit: mm/cm/m/ft/inch

Distances for XYZ Translation: Distances for translation along the XYZ axes, respectively.

Export OBJ files

Object

Enable this option to export all corresponding elements.

Thin

Only retains the basic outline of the surface without showing noticeable three-dimensional thickness. The file size is relatively small

Thick

The model retains a clearly defined three-dimensional thickness, meaning the object has complete dimensions of length, width, and height in 3D space. The file size is relatively large.

Option

Combine

Separate Meshs:Controls the separation of the mesh.

Combine All Meshs:Merges all mesh parts into a single mesh.

Combine by Fabrics and Trims:The mesh will be merged according to the grouping of fabrics and trims.

Automatically Rename Meshs

Automatically generates or adjusts a unique name for each mesh during export to avoid confusion caused by duplicate names.

Unified UV Coordinates

Determines the continuity of the texture alignment across multiple components.

Scale

mm/cm/m/ft/inch (adjustable size percentage)

The file size after being imported into the software will be adjusted according to the selected scale option and percentage value

Axis Conversion

Enable this option to change the axial direction of the OBJ file.

File

Save with Texture File(ZIP)

Texture paths in the FBX file are saved as full absolute paths (e.g., C:\Users\...).

Risk of missing textures on other systems

Not ideal for cross-device workflows

Merge Color and Texture Together:

Merge Color and Texture Together: Enable this option to export only one OBJ with color texture.

Encoding

UTF-8

A globally used character encoding that supports almost all languages (including Chinese, English, and special symbols). It offers strong compatibility.

Lcal

Designed specifically for Chinese, it is compatible with Simplified and Traditional Chinese, but offers limited support for other languages (such as English special characters or minor languages). It may also produce errors when used across non-Chinese systems (for example, native Mac environments).

When exporting as OBJ, select Unified UV Export and deselect Material Merge; this will reassign the materials.

Right-Click Conversion from Virtual Mannequin Format to Pattern Pieces

When an OBJ file is imported as avatar, the system supports right-click one-click conversion from avatar to pattern pieces.

When importing an OBJ object, the object type must be set to "Load as Avatar".

⚠️ The mesh of the selected avatar object must consist of multiple separated and independent mesh segments.

Operation method:

1.File ▶ Import ▶ Import OBJ ▶ Object Type ▶ Load as Avatar

2.Right-click the selected OBJ object ▶ Flatten as Pattern

Application Scenario: Bag making

Application Value: Simplifies the complicated steps from a 3D model to pattern generation.
