Use the software’s Duplicate to Symmetric Pattern feature:

First, import the reference image into the pattern. Then, place the pattern on the pattern piece. Use the Transform Graphic tool to select the pattern, and right-click to choose outline to internal shape. From there, you can use the Duplicate to Symmetric Pattern Tool to trace the edges and convert them into pattern piece outlines or internal lines.
