Create Map

Purpose

By selecting local colors, quickly generate corresponding Transparent Diffuse Map, Normal Map, Gloss Map, Metalness Map, Transparent Map, and Displacement Map to represent the transparency, normal (bump), glossiness, metalness, and other effects of local fabrics.

Function Path

Home ▶Create Map

Explanation

1.Click on "Create Map" to enter this function.
2.Choose the type of map to generate, it can be Transparent Diffuse Map, Normal Map, Gloss Map, Metalness Map, Transparent Map, or Displacement Map.
3.Use the eyedropper tool to select a specific color or multiple colors on the image. The selected colors will be displayed as white in the popup window, while the unselected parts will be black.
4.After choosing the colors, click "Generate" to create a black and white texture map, which will be added to the corresponding texture slot in the attribute window.

Detailed Explanation

1.By default, use the "Eyedropper Tool" to select a single color.
2.Use the "Add to Sampler" tool to select multiple colors.
3.Use the "Subtract from Sampler" tool to subtract the currently clicked color from the previously selected multiple colors.
4.Check "Invert" to select all colors outside the eyedropper selection in reverse.
5. Adjust "Fuzziness" where a smaller tolerance value selects colors with higher similarity, and colors with lower similarity are filtered out.
6.Check "3D Preview" to see the corresponding texture effects in the 3D window while adjusting the selected colors or fuzziness.
Texture mapping principles and examples
1. Principle of operation of smoothness texture mapping: The white part has a smooth effect, and the black part has no smooth effect. According to this principle, select the color of the corresponding part to generate an appropriate smoothness texture map.
2. Principle of operation of metallic texture mapping: The white part has a metallic effect, and the black part has no metallic effect. According to this principle, select the color of the corresponding part to generate an appropriate metallic texture map.
Example:
3. Principle of operation of transparency texture mapping: The black part has a transparent effect, and the white part has no transparent effect. According to this principle, select the color of the corresponding part to generate an appropriate transparency texture map.
Example:
4. Normal map parameter settings: (Structure and details represent bump effects at different precisions)
Example:
5. Principle of operation of displacement texture mapping: The height will change with the color change of black, white, and gray. The brightest white part has the highest bulge. According to this principle, select the color of the corresponding part to generate an appropriate displacement texture map. Note: In the Fabric software, the bump effect of the displacement texture map can only be seen in offline rendering.
